Premature failure of cable bolts in underground mines is a major global problem. The failure is known to occur due to stress corrosion cracking (SCC). Here, X-ray microcomputed tomography(MCT) is applied to study stress corrosion cracksdeveloped in a cable bolt at an underground mine. The results show the strong ability of MCT for characterisation of complex SCC.
